Come and learn to sew clothes! We'll start at the very beginning, learning to read patterns and the techniques to get started building your wardrobe. This is a project based class series - you won't just go away with knowledge, you'll go away with the basis of a handmade wardrobe as we work through 3 wearable items.
Lesson 1: Learn to read a pattern. Lets measure up and get sewing! This class includes techniques for cutting out your pattern, learning to understand your pattern, and we'll get started on a beginner’s Top made from woven fabric.
Lesson 2: We'll carry on with our starter top - we'll cover seams, bindings, set in sleeves, and get our top well underway.
Lesson 3: We'll finish our top, and start a dress.
Lesson 4: Carrying on with our dress, we'll cover hems, inserting an invisible zipper, darts, pockets, and talk about interfacings!
Lesson 5: Carrying on with our dress.
Lesson 6: We'll hopefully finish our dress, and then let's get started on stretch! We'll learn tips and techniques for sewing with stretch fabric, and start making a useful everyday basic top.
Lesson 7: We'll finish our top, and recap all we've learned!
You'll go away with finished garments, and the patterns and skills to make more. Patterns are included but materials are not. There may be some homework between sessions.
