Jeans Making Masterclass - 5 Session Evening Course, Starts 10th September 2024

£200.00

In this 5 evening course, you'll learn to make a pair of fitted jeans destined to be your new favourites.  You'll learn to choose the correct pattern size, how to grade between sizes, and make a toile.  We'll then assess for issues and tweak the toile until it fits you perfectly.

Once your toile is perfect, you'll learn how to cut and sew denim, using durable sewing techniques for long lasting jeans.  You'll learn to sew a fly front zipper and/ or button fly, and install jeans hardware for a professional finish.  You'll also learn to topstitch those pockets like a pro.

No more fitting room nightmares, you'll go away with confidence in your sewing abilities, and in how awesome you look in your new perfect fitting jeans.

We will be using a choice of Jeans sewing patterns, either the Ginger Jeans or Morgan Jeans by Closet Case Patterns, the Dawn Jeans by Megan Nielsen, or the Ames Jeans by Cashmerette.  You will be asked to make your selection prior to the class beginning so we can have the pattern prepped for you.  Your size may limit the pattern options available to you, but for larger sizes, the Dawn (curves) option goes up to a US size 30 and the Ames option goes to a US size 28.

We have now opened this class up to menswear also, and the pattern options are the Thread Theory Quadra, or Fulford Jeans.

This class is suitable for intermediate sewers ready to take on a new challenge.

You will need to bring:

Fabric -This will depend on the style that you choose and the size you are making, please get in touch with us for more detailed advice.  We also advise for you to ideally wash your fabric in advance, to allow for any shrinkage beforehand, instead of once you've made your gorgeous pair of jeans!  You will need a similar fabric for your toile too - if using stretch denim, then you will need two lots of stretch denim - for rigid denim you can use a heavy calico.

Matching thread and Top Stitching Thread

Fusible Woven Interfacing

Jeans Button (amount is dependent on style)

Denim/Jeans Zip (dependent on style)

Included in the class:

Your jeans pattern, sewing machine use, tools.  Please feel free to bring your own sewing machine if you are more comfortable with this.

This course takes place on the 10th/24th Sept/ 8th/22nd Oct/5th Nov 2024.  Each session starts at 6.00pm and finishes at 8.30pm.
