In this half day course, you will create your own sample book of hand sewing techniques to help give your sewing projects that professional finish.
You will learn:
- A variety of hand hemming stitches for a variety of fabrics.
- The best way to attach fastenings by hand.
- Invisible catch stitching and prick stitching techniques, to keep facings in place.
- When and how to use bar and swing tacks for reinforcing and stability.
This class runs from 10.30am - 1pm. Materials are all included.
About your tutor:
Claudia Vogt trained as a professional costume maker at Rose Bruford College. She has since worked in theatre, opera and film making a wide range of historical costumes. Her passion for tailoring led her to the nineteenth century and she is now pursuing a master's degree in Victorian Studies.
