Join us for a beginner's visible mending class, focusing on the hand stitched embroidery techniques of Sashiko and Boro, using simple stitches to reinforce and patch your clothes. Using these methods you can be as perfect or imperfect as you like, as embracing the concepts of wabi-sabi helps us find beauty in imperfections. This technique can also be used to make quilt blocks! We will also cover some basic weaving techniques to give you a wonderful range of options to go away and get started with.
All materials included, although feel free to bring scraps and anything you might want to mend, as we can talk through options in class.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and those more advanced stitchers wanting ideas to help stitch their clothing. Please note the techniques we are using are more suitable to woven fabrics than knit fabrics.
