About Us
Hi! We're The Eternal Maker - a modern sewing, fabric and yarn store based in Chichester, on the south coast of England.
We are open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm each day, including most Bank Holidays.
We stock an extensive collection of over 2000 bolts of fabric ranging from quilting cotton, jersey, and double gauze to linens, and specialist dressmaking fabrics, so there is always plenty to choose from! We also stock haberdashery & notions, and have a large selection of yarns as well as knitting and crochet supplies in our yarn department. After a hard day's fabric shopping you can retreat to our cafe, The Eternal Baker, where you can relax and unwind and treat yourself to a coffee or two with one of our delicious cakes! We also run classes, so come and learn a new skill!
At The Eternal Maker we'll always aim to help as much as possible - if you can't see what you're after, get in touch - we may still have it but it hasn't made it's way online yet, or it may be on it's way in. And if we don't have it - well, we'll try our hardest to find you someone who does!
Meet the team:
“The Oversharer”
Anna has always had a passion for sewing and fabrics, starting out with a Saturday job in a sewing shop, and later as the editor of a sewing magazine. She opened up The Eternal Maker in 2007 and hasn't looked back since! Anna can turn her hand to almost anything creative, and enjoys spending her spare time whipping up new outfits for herself (and her dog Athos!). Anna is famous at The Eternal Maker for her many hilarious anecdotes, there's never a dull moment when she's around!

Rachael: Shop Manager
“The fancy Dress Queen”
Rachael is the longest standing member of staff, having been with the company since 2008. She is a knitter, sewer and all round craft enthusiast. When Rachael isn't working part time in the shop, she spends her time looking after her two little boys and making the most amazing fancy dress costumes!
Favourite fabrics: Anything with a cute animal print
Favourite cafe order: A very traditional slice of Victoria sponge and a cuppa.
Janette: Shop & cafe assistant
“The Cheeky One”
Janette has been working at the Eternal Maker since April 2014, and when she's not busy organising and tidying the shop she can be seen helping customers and encouraging confidence in new sewers. She has a positive outlook and can often be heard singing or making people laugh with her infectious giggle! In her spare time (when she has any!) Janette likes to make bags and regularly teaches various classes in the shop throughout the year.

Louise: Cafe

Louise started at The Eternal Maker in early summer 2018.
Ashleigh: Saturday shop assistant
“The straight talker”
Ashleigh has been working at the Eternal Maker since November 2012. Having worked in the shop since the tender age of 15, Ashleigh is now one of the longest serving team members, and knows everything there is to know about The Eternal Maker. Ashleigh is very friendly, outgoing and is known to be a bit of a chatterbox! She previously studied textiles at school; even made her own prom dress, and is now training to be a primary school teacher. Ashleigh is always super organised and can often be found tidying the shop.

Athos: General Troublemaker
“The Cute One”
Athos has been around since May 2016. He isn't very good at sewing but can often be seen sporting a coat or bow tie made by Anna. In his spare time he enjoys eating everything in sight, and trying his best to distract people with his cuteness, whilst being perfectly naughty.
Favourite treat: Absolutely anything he can find. Literally, anything.
George: General Dogsbody
“The Goof Ball”
George has been around since June 2017. He also isn't very good at sewing but he does love textiles - most especially when he can chew them. He can be a bit aloof on first meeting you, but he warms up pretty soon and will want to say hello.
Favourite treat: Absolutely anything as long as it's really stinky.
