Designing a blanket/wall hanging with wools and felts, and decorative stitching.
Isabelle started working with felt and wool fabric several years ago as she loves the texture and depth of colours that these natural fibres create. Wool is traditionally more expensive than cotton and can be difficult to get hold off, especially when you want to do appliqué or quilt work. So I started to work with wool fabric that had been thrown away as unfashionable clothing or old blankets. I blend the wool fabric with felt and other fabrics to create new base fabric, which is totally unique.
Join me for a few hours of creativity, inspiration and stitching. We will go through the basics from; choice of fabric, blending colours, different techniques of working with felt and wool e.g. appliqué, pennies, broderie perse, as well as exploring different stitches to augment your design. You will be able to explore with others and share your experiences, as well as developing your own ideas in a small project piece.
The price of the workshop includes a basic kit.
Please bring sharp scissors - small and large, and a selection of needles and ideas.
This class runs from 10.00 - 4.00pm
